Hawk Ridge Systems prides itself on going above and beyond simply selling our customers a software package – we want to be a partner in your design process and success. This is the reason our support team is ranked so highly, the reason we take the time to publish regular blogs with helpful tips, and the reason our engineers have launched a brand-new YouTube channel providing free tutorials. We want to make your job easier!
Lucky for me, this is also the reason I get the opportunity to meet many of you at the first Hawk Ridge Systems Night School of 2014: Weldments, Sheet Metal, and Piping. Haven’t made it to a Night School event yet? Keep reading, and I will convince you to sign up to come see us at a location near you.
Our Night School events provide our customers an opportunity to expand their skill sets and learn more about the tools already available to them with SolidWorks. This won’t be a boring product demonstration! Night Schools are brief training classes that we create to address our commonly heard questions, and help you be successful. We’re all very busy during the day, so we schedule these events in the late afternoon / early evening so they are easier for you to attend. We’ll present our chosen topic of the evening, but you will also have the chance to interact with other SolidWorks users from your area to see how they are implementing the tools. I still haven’t mentioned the best part: it’s 100% FREE to our customers! So don’t worry about trying to convince your boss, just show them this blog.
Night Schools also provide you a great opportunity to meet and talk with the Hawk Ridge Systems team. We always have some of our engineering and sales crew there to answer any questions about all of our software packages. Come enjoy a snack while you network with your peers, and learn a few new tricks to improve your designs. You even have a chance to win some cool prizes just for attending! And if you’ve been to any of our other events, you know that our Marketing team will be on-hand with some guaranteed swag if you want to offer a video testimonial that we can use on the website.
For two weeks in February, our Canadian team will lead 6 events across British Columbia, Alberta (Calgary and Edmonton), Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Manitoba. The sessions will be led by Ben Taylor, whom many of you may already have met, or seen his blogs and webinars. Meanwhile, our US team will make 4 stops in California (So Cal and Nor Cal), Oregon, and Washington. I will be at those locations conducting the presentations personally. Ben and I will both be supported by our colleagues from the local offices. We’ll also conclude our tour with an online webinar version of the Night School for those who can’t make it to one of the events – look for that link coming soon.
Inspired by our growing customer base in the oil and gas industry, this Night School will be focusing on three main topics: weldments, sheet metal, and piping. Don’t let that steer you away, though! We’ll be sure to make the topics relevant to anyone who uses or is interested in those great features in SolidWorks. If you’re doing any work with sheet metal, weldments, or piping, this session is going to be very helpful – we’ve got lots of tips and tricks that can make your work life a little easier. With your help, we’ll complete an entire project in just a short 2 hour window.
For starters, we’ll take a look at how SolidWorks can automate some of your design processes to increase productivity and get your project off to a good start. Then, we’ll show you how to use weldments to quickly design metal structures and frames. Up next will be in-context design to create sheet metal components for your project, ensuring that they are always up to date and accurate. Finally, we complete the project by using the pipe routing feature in SolidWorks to effortlessly plumb a complicated system and produce the necessary information to turn a virtual concept into a reality. Along the way we will be sure to throw in some of the new features available in the latest version, SolidWorks 2014.
If these seem like topics you have already mastered, you might be surprised at some of the pointers we have up our sleeves to make your design tools even easier to use. Alternatively, if you feel you aren’t ready to take on these design tools, sign up anyway and then keep an eye on our blog as we bring you some more information to get you ready for our night of education.
If you can’t tell by now, I am very excited about these topics and this event. Ben and I are both looking forward to meeting each of you and sharing some of our knowledge, so be sure to sign up and keep an eye on our blog for more information to follow. If you have any questions about Night Schools or what to expect from this one please feel free to contact us or leave a comment below and Ben or I will be happy to help. You can get in touch with us at events@hawkridgesys.com or call us at 866.587.6803 in Canada or 877.266.4469 in the US.
